Lash Extensions: FAQS

Have you ever heard about lash extensions and wondered if they would be right for you? In this blog, I will address some FAQS we hear from our clients to answer any questions or concerns you might have.

What is a lash extension?

Lash extensions are an extension of your natural lash. Unlike false lashes, lash extensions are glued to each individual natural lash to give your lashes a natural appearance with a little extra flare!

How long will the extensions last?

Your natural lashes grow and fall out in a cycle. When your extensions are applied, we choose lashes that are in the beginning of the growing phase. Meaning they are not close to falling out. Typically, we recommend getting a lash fill every 4 to 6 weeks. By doing this, you are able to get them filled before they all fall out to keep your lashes looking fabulous!

Will extensions damage my natural lashes?

Absolutely not!! If taken care of properly, lash extensions will enhance your natural lashes without doing any damage. Actually, most clients claim the extensions help their natural lashes become healthier since they take better care of their lashes by always removing mascara and cleaning close to the lash line. Lash extensions only do damage to the natural lash if taken off without professional assistance.

Speaking of wearing mascara, can I wear mascara with lash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are designed to enhance the length of your lashes. If you're satisfied with the way your extensions make your eyes look, I would skip mascara. If you're one that can't stand the thought of not wearing mascara, it will give you a more voluminous look. However, should you choose to wear it, NEVER go to bed with it on and be very careful when removing.

Does the application process hurt?

It doesn't hurt so much as it is uncomfortable. To apply extensions, your lower lashes are held down with medical tape to prevent your eyes being glued shut. Once you get used to this unusual feeling, the rest is a breeze. Some clients even take a “lash nap”!

Why does the application process take so long?

The initial application process usually takes about an hour and a half while a fill can be done in an hour. Since each extension is adhered to an individual lash, as opposed to be a strip of lashes, it takes time to look for the perfect natural lash. We want to make sure you get the most wear time out of your extensions, so we take the time to apply them with extreme precision.

What products do I need to avoid while I have extensions?

While you can cry, sweat and swim with lash extensions, there are some products that need to be avoided to ensure your extensions don't fall off. Products with any type of oil need to be avoided. Also, any products with sulfate needs to be avoided. This includes your shampoo. The oil and sulfate in products will break down the adhesive used to hold your extensions in place.
