Skin Care 101

DISCOVER THE THREE SIMPLE STEPS THAT ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED IN SKIN CARE.

Today, I want to talk to you about skin care. There are so many products out there we don't understand or know when to use. I want to help you know what to use and when to use it. I want you to form a habit of a skin care regimen. Then, I want you to radiate the beauty of healthy and glowing skin!

Cleansing, toning and moisturizing are the basics of skin care. But, are you missing something? We should not forget to exfoliate, use a masque and use serums, oils and concentrates.

Why exfoliate?

Exfoliation refers to the peeling and shedding of the outer layer of the skin. An exfoliant is an ingredient that assist in this process. Exfoliation is the key to vibrant skin. Regular exfoliation removes the hard keratin layer (a fiber protein mixed with a thin layer of water and oils) and build-up, bringing luminosity and clarity to the skin. For younger skin, exfoliation unplugs pores and keeps the skin clear and smooth. For mature skin, exfoliation is essential to help minimize fine lines, remove dry flakes, and to revive tired skin.

Why use masques?

A masque is usually a setting product, which means it dries after application and provides a complete closure to the environment on top of the skin. Using a face masque once or twice per week will dramatically increase the elasticity and health of the skin. Masques can contain high amounts of concentrated vitamins and nutrient-rich ingredients which give additional hydration and firming benefits. Treatment masques can be used to control skin conditions.

Why use serums, booster-serums, concentrates and oils?

Serums, booster-serums, concentrates and oils are a single application of a highly concentrated extract of a water or oil base. They are typically applied as the last step before moisturizing your skin. However, booster-serums are a versatile product that can be used in numerous ways - they can also be added to moisturizers and masques for enhanced results. Each one ensures deep penetration of active ingredients into the skin to impart a healthy glow from within.

Now... When do we exfoliate, use masques and serums?

I am going to help you incorporate these into your skin care routine. As I said before, the basic skin care regimen is cleanse, tone and moisturize. Let's add to what we just discussed! I am giving you a step-by-step guideline to get you started.

STEP 1 - CLEANSE

Twice per day, morning and evening.

STEP 2 - TONE

Twice per day, morning and evening.

STEP 3 - EXFOLIATE

Once per week.

STEP 4 - MASQUE

Once or twice per week.

STEP 5 - TREAT (Serum, booster-serum, concentrate or oil)

Daily or as required by a skin care specialist.

STEP 6 - MOISTURIZE

Twice per day, morning and evening.

STEP 7 - PROTECT

Apply a sun defense in the morning to finish and protect the skin.
